Higher Certificate in Early Childhood Development (3-6 Years)
Our Certificate in Early Childhood Development is an 18-month qualification that is designed to equip graduates to work as teachers in a Montessori pre-school. This certificate is accredited by Montessori Centre South Africa.

Professional Placement Requirements
This qualification includes a required Professional Placement in a Montessori setting of at least 150 hours (6 weeks), starting from September 2018. This placement forms a central point of practical integration for the knowledge, understanding, skills and attitudes developed over the course of the training. A placement Mentor from the setting as well as a Placement Tutor allocated by Absorbent Mind Montessori Centre will observe students.
Examination
As part of the course requirement, students will be required to undertake and pass a 60minutes practical examination that will take place at the end of the course of study.
Attendance and Course Dates:
The part-time lecture timetable begins in September 2017 and runs until August 2018. Our lectures hold on Saturdays only, while schools are in session. There are no classes during school holidays. Please note that all lectures are compulsory as these hours form part of the final qualification requirements. An extra 6 months (September 2018 to February 2019) have been allocated in which the students must complete their professional placement.
Entrance Requirements
Applicants for the Higher Certificate course must;
- Be aged 18 years or over
- Hold a school leaving certificate with a minimum of a Certificate pass
Entrance Examination/Interview
Application Process
- If possible, attend an information session at our Centre
- Complete the application form and return it with supporting documentation to admin@ammcng.com with a non-refundable application fee of NGN5000.
- An entrance interview will hold at the Centre where you will also be required to write a short language and numeracy entrance assessment. You choose your interview day from either of the two days.
- Successful applicants will then receive an offer of study, upon the enrolment documents will need to be submitted with the payment of the registration fee.
